This was incredible. We used Rossa Amara- an amaro made with blood oranges. This will be my go to cocktail. Thanks!

This is a terrific slightly bitter take on the Manhattan. I used Amaro Montenegro because it's what I had on hand. Can't wait to try it with the amari mentioned by the other commenters. I'm a bit skeptical of adding amarena/maraschino cherries as the sweetness of those would seem to run counter to the bitter profile that seems to be intended, but it never hurts to try something once.

Another great one from Jim Meehan.

You know, this is actually not a bad cocktail. I am mostly a sweet vermouth (Carpano Antica or Cocchi) & Rye Whiskey person, so I raised my eyebrows on using dry vermouth. Fun to try something new. Happy to report this cocktail grows on you. The dry vermouth takes the flavor profiles in a totally different direction than I am used to.

I need to try the Rossa Amara mentioned below, that sounds really delicious. I used Amaro Nonino & added a few Amarena cherries.

I love this Manhattan riff!! It's a huge go to cocktail! The Martini (very dry), the Manhattan and the Brooklyn are my favourites.

1.5 oz whisky 3/4 amaro 3/4 vermouth 1/4 cherry liquor

It was a little too much rye for my taste. I used a Few rye from Chicago, and I kept the rest of the recipe the same.
