  1. Step 1

    Put the dates in a pan with the wine and seasonings and simmer until the mixture resembles a soft paste, about 30 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cool. Add the walnuts and serve.

I use almonds, pistachios, dried, dates, figs, apricots, prunes and golden raisins. A splash or two of grape juice, 1 tsp cinnamon and 1/2 tsp ground cloves and allspice. Roll into 1/2 balls and coat in ground almonds or nut mix. A hit every year!

This was a huge hit. Instead of sweet Passover wine, I used half regular red wine, half port.

I love this recipe. It's easy and really delicious.
