My DH came home with the makings for this drink not realizing we had no vodka in the house. So I made it with some excellent Kentucky moonshine we had hanging around. A true keeper, I say. And may I suggest we call this version 'My Old Kentucky Hound?'
Why dump the Pernod ...drink it with a short beer chaser.
Mine wasn't the pretty pale color in the photo, but bright reddish-pink. I had only to sub Grand Marnier for Cointreau. This is the perfect Thanksgiving eve cocktail, and has made me much merrier after a long day of prep. Onward...
Added a bit extra Pom juice then… Took two ideas from others: — didn’t toss Pernod — added a Tblspoon of simple syrup to sweeten a bit more. Five stars for a cocktail that’s special and unique! Always looking for Pernod uses. Reminds me of my 20s in France🥰
It's a keeper! Bright flavor, lovely color, and I added just a bit of Agave for a touch more sweetness; seemed to bring it all together.

With bourbon or rye whiskey, this is almost a Sazerac. One of my favorite cocktails!
