Preparation

  1. Step 1

    Combine rum, triple sec, lime juice and maraschino in measuring cup. Place ½ cup ice in blender and process to crush. Scrape down sides of container. Add drink mixture and blend briefly.

  2. Step 2

    Pour into cocktail glass and drop in cherry.

We made a big batch of these for the 4th of July and found them way too strong and not at all sweet. We had to add much more lime juice, simple syrup (2-3t per), and a lot more ice. Also didn't really get the cherry flavor, so I'd reduce the triple sec and up the cherry liqueur. But, you know, by now it's a completely different drink... Sadly, we dumped more than half the pitcher of very expensive liquor (we premixed the liquids). My fault for not having a practice cocktail ahead-of-time!!

Very good - more than the sum of its parts.
