Ingredients

Yield:1½ cups, about 6 servings
  • 2garlic cloves
  • 1tablespoon coarsely chopped fresh ginger
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • ¼cups cooked chick peas
  • ¼cup smooth unseasoned peanut butter
  • ½teaspoon crushed hot red pepper flakes, or to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Chips or raw vegetables for dipping

Preparation

  1. Step 1

    With the machine running, drop the garlic and ginger through the feed tube of a food processor and process until minced. Scrape the sides of the bowl, then add the lemon juice. Process briefly, then add the chick peas and process until the mixture is smooth.

  2. Step 2

    Add the peanut butter a little at a time and process until the mixture is smooth and has a creamy consistency. If it is too stiff, add a little water.

  3. Step 3

    Add the hot red pepper flakes and salt to taste. Transfer to a dish and serve with chips or vegetables for dipping.

Not bad. I think the recipe meant to say 1 1/4 cups chick peas. That's how I made it and the proportions for the rest of the ingredients worked. Used 1/2 tsp salt at the end and added 1 Tbsp. olive oil.

Can confirm, recipe was originally printed with 1 1/4 cups chickpeas; a digit was dropped during digitization.
