Preparation

  1. Step 1

    Preheat the broiler.

  2. Step 2

    Cut the tomato in half crosswise. Arrange the halves, cut side up, on a baking dish.

  3. Step 3

    Stuff each tomato half with an equal amount of the slivered garlic. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and pour one tablespoon of the olive oil over each half.

  4. Step 4

    Place the tomatoes under the broiler about four inches from the source of heat and cook about five minutes, or until the cut surfaces are blistered and piping hot. Remove and discard the garlic. Serve immediately.
