Yield:1 cocktail
  • Bitters
  • 2½ounces Maker's Mark bourbon (or rye if you prefer)
  • 1ounce sweet vermouth
  • Maraschino cherry or lemon twist for garnish

Preparation

  1. Step 1

    Shake one or two drops of bitters into a cocktail glass, gently twisting the glass from side to side. Shake out excess, leaving only the residue.

  2. Step 2

    Mix bourbon or rye with sweet vermouth in a mixing glass. Add ice. Shake well. Strain contents into cocktail glass. Add cherry or lemon.

A very nice drink whether with Makers Mark or a good quality rye.. Use luxardo cherries

Luxardo Cherries are only to be used in all cocktails calling for a cherry garnish. The other so called bright red cherries are a strange blend of chemicals.
