I made this with fresh blended strawberries!! Didn't need the simple syrup as the strawberries were sweet enough and added 1 oz of Cointreau!! Used a shaker with ice to cool....perfect!!

Sadly, this is a terribly written recipe. It sounds great at first look, but turned out to be a big disappointment The sliced strawberries didn’t impart much flavor - should they, and the basil, be muddled? How much simple syrup is a “splash?” After shaking, should the drink be strained? Should it be served over ice? With the melty ice and mushy strawberries and basil straight from the shaker?

This was delicious even though I didn't have the amount of basil called for in the recipe (on the spur of the moment, I made a pitcher for a bunch of us). Bonus - it wasn't overly sweet either (often an issue with a drink of this type). I'll have all of the basil on hand when I make this again - because I will!
