Steamed Broccoli Rabe

Ingredients
- 2bunches broccoli rabe
- Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
- Dash extra-virgin olive oil
Preparation
- Step 1
Trim the tough stalk from the broccoli rabe and cut the leaves coarsely into pieces one to two inches long.
- Step 2
Heat the water in a steamer and place the broccoli rabe in the top half. Steam for five to seven minutes or until tender. Season with the salt and pepper and sprinkle with oil. Serve immediately.

I cut off and washed most of the leaves, and added them to my salad - delicious. You don't have to be too aggressive about trimming the stalks. I just cut off the browned ends. Even if the stalks are tough, you can just peal the outer portion as you might do with large, tough broccoli stalks. I have also steamed them a little less, and then sauteed them for a few minutes with some fresh garlic.
I'm going for it with tomatoes and garlic.
