Preparation

  1. Step 1

    Rinse the beans and drain them. Put them into a saucepan with water to cover and salt.

  2. Step 2

    Bring to a boil and simmer 10 minutes or until tender. The beans must remain a trifle firm or al dente.

  3. Step 3

    Drain the beans and return them to a hot saucepan. Add the butter and sprinkle with lemon juice, parsley and pepper. Toss and serve hot.

So I had a 12-oz bag of green beans from the supermarket. One of those microwavable bags. Put it in the microwave for 4 minutes, let the bag sit unopened for 2, and then spilled beans into a serving dish with the butter and lemon already in it. Stirred and served. What could be simpler? Can't wait for my own beans to come in, any day now!
