Ingredients
Yield:pastry for pie crust and lid
- 3cups flour
- ½teaspoon salt
- 9tablespoons butter, cut in bits
- ¼cup solid vegetable shortening
- 1egg plus 1 yolk, lightly beaten
- 3 to 4tablespoons ice water
Preparation
- Step 1
In large bowl combine flour and salt. Cut in butter and shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.
- Step 2
With fork stir in egg and enough water to moisten dry ingredients.
- Step 3
Divide dough in half, place each half on sheet of waxed paper and press into a flattened disk. Chill at least one hour before rolling.
