What is more traditionally Southern than fluffy biscuits bathed in butter? These are sinful with dinner, terrific toasted and slathered with butter and marmalade the next morning.

I had success. I used buttered flavored shortening and lactose free 2% milk. Everything at room temperature. I’ve always found it easier to start with less dry mixture and all the liquid, and then add the dry mixture. My dough was formed when I had used about 3 1/4 dry mixture. 9 minutes in the oven.

Wow, I made these and they were undercooked and awful. I guess ‘lard’ is not our thing.
