Ingredients

Yield:4 servings
  • 1pound green tomatoes
  • 1tablespoon soy sauce
  • Dash Tabasco sauce
  • Dash Worcestershire sauce
  • Flour for dredging
  • 1teaspoon Hungarian paprika
  • Peanut or safflower oil for frying

Preparation

  1. Step 1

    Slice the tomatoes. Sprinkle the slices with soy, Tabasco and Worcestershire sauces.

  2. Step 2

    Place the flour in a bowl or plastic bag and mix in the paprika.

  3. Step 3

    Heat half an inch of oil in a large skillet, when the oil is hot, dredge a few slices of tomato in the flour and fry them in one layer, turning them once. Drain on paper towels and keep warm until all the tomatoes are cooked.

Love this recipe. Great first course.

Good seasoning although not as if the tomatoes soak up that much. A bit of good salt sprinkled after frying did the trick.

This recipe did not work for me. It was bland, not very flavourful. Tried another that worked better.
