Tomato Sauce With Horseradish

Ingredients
Yield:About one and one-half cups
- 1tablespoon butter
- ¼cup finely chopped onions
- ½teaspoon finely minced garlic
- 1tablespoon flour
- 1½cups crushed, drained canned tomatoes
- ½bay leaf
- Salt to taste, if desired
- Freshly ground pepper to taste
- 2tablespoons horseradish, preferably freshly grated
Preparation
- Step 1
Heat the butter in a saucepan and add the onions and garlic. Cook, stirring, until the onions are wilted.
- Step 2
Sprinkle with the flour and stir to blend. Add the tomatoes, bay leaf, salt and pepper. Blend well and simmer, stirring occasionally, about 10 minutes. Stir in the horseradish, adding more according to taste, and serve.
