Sometimes ya just want a simple, go-to recipe for a cookout/picnic side dish, something that's easy and quick to make and is a quiet complement to bigger attractions. This is one of those recipes. The only change I made was to add shredded carrots, about three of them.

I agree with Richard. When you want a recipe for regular old coleslaw that isn’t all New York Timesy, this is the one. I use apple cider vinegar instead of lemon, and add carrots and a little celery seed. Salt to taste.
